The Lord's Shephard of Penang Diocese

His Lordship Bishop Sebastian Francis, the fifth Roman Catholic Bishop of the Penang Diocese, successor to Bishop Emeritus Antony Selvanayagam. He was born on 11 November 1951.
7 July 2012, it was announced that Rev. Msgr. Sebastian Francis was chosen by his holiness Pope Benedict XVI to be the new bishop for the Penang Diocese, which also covers states of Perak, Perlis, Kedah and Kelantan.
20 August 2012, Episcopal Ordination & Installation at St.Anne Church, Bukit Mertajam, Seberang Perai Tengah, Penang. The solemn event was presided by principal consecrator Archbishop Tan Sri Murphy Pakiam, who is Archbishop of Kuala Lumpur.

Rev. Msgr Sebastian Francis was born on 11 November 1951 in Johor Bahru.
Completed his studies in philosophy and theology at the seminary in Penang.Completed 35 years as priest since ordained as priest on 28 July 1977 at Melaka-Johor Diocese.
1977-1980,  Vicar St. Francis Xavier parish in Melaka.
1981, Assistant priest of the Immaculate Conception in Johor Bahru.
1981-1983,  Studies for a Licentiate in dogmatic Theology at the Angelicum in Rome.
1984: Assistant priest of St. Francis Xavier in Melaka.
1985-1988,  Professor of Dogmatic Theology, spiritual Director of the seminary in Penang, Chaplain of the university students in Penang, Church Administrator of the Immaculate Conception in Pulau Tikus, Penang and Pastoral Coordinator.
1988-2001, Vicar General of Melaka-Johor.
1988-2004, Priest of the Cathedral in Melaka.
2002-2003,  Diocesan Administrator of Melaka-Johor.
2003, Vicar General of Melaka-Johor.
2004-2007, Priest of St. Louis in Kluang.
2007-2011, Priest of the Immaculate Conception in Johor Bahru.
2011, Priest of Christ the King in Kulai.

From Miletus he sent to Ephesus and called for the elders of the church. And when they had come to him, he said to them: (Acts 20:17)....Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood. (Acts 20:28)

5 The elders who are among you I exhort, I who am a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that will be revealed: 2 Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers, not by compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest gain but eagerly; 3 nor as being lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock; 4 and when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away.
