The 12 Disciples of Jesus



The twelve followers of Jesus were called his twelve disciples.





Matthew 10:2-4
“These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon (who is called Peter) and his brother Andrew; James son of Zebedee, and his brother John; Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed Him.”

Peter (also known as Simon), denies 3 times that he knows Jesus, before the cock crows. (Luke 22:34)

Andrew (Peter’s brother)

James (the apostle of passion)


John (whom Jesus loved), John was the younger brother of James


Philip (the bean counter)


Nathanael (also known as Bartholomew)


Matthew (the tax collector)


Thomas (the twin). Thomas was a pessimist, he refused to believe that Christ had risen from the dead until he could see and touch his wounds. (John 20:27)


James (the less, son of Alphaeus)

Simon (the zealot)


Thaddeus (the apostle with three names; also known as Lebbaeus and Judas, son of James)


Judas Iscariot (the traitor). (Luke 22:47-48)


One named Matthias was chosen by the eleven to replace Judas Iscariot
