Faith

Faith stands in the power of God, not persuasive words of men.

1 Corinthians 2:4-5

⁴ My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, ⁵ so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power. 

You and your heart must be purified by faith,

Acts 15:9

⁹ He did not discriminate between us and them, for he purified their hearts by faith.

Acts 26:18

¹⁸ to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’

as you:

• contend for the faith, 

Jude 1:3

³ Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt compelled to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God’s holy people.

   

• grow in the faith, 

2 Thessalonians 1:3

³ We ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love all of you have for one another is increasing.

• make every effort to add to your faith,

2 Peter 1:5

⁵ For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge;

²⁰ But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit

• increase in faith, 

2 Corinthians 10:15

¹⁵ Neither do we go beyond our limits by boasting of work done by others. Our hope is that, as your faith continues to grow, our sphere of activity among you will greatly expand, 

• perfect what is lacking in your faith,

1 Thessalonians 3:10

¹⁰ Night and day we pray most earnestly that we may see you again and supply what is lacking in your faith.

• fight the good fight of faith, 

 1 Timothy 6:12

¹² Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

• until faith overcomes the world and gives you victory,

1 John 5:4

⁴ for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.

• when your faith is finished by the finisher,

Hebrews 12:2

² fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.  

• The end of faith is to receive the salvation of you souls.

1 Peter 1:9

⁹ for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

Romans 10:8-13

  ⁸ But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,”  that is, the message concerning faith that we proclaim: ⁹ If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.   ¹⁰ For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. ¹¹ As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.”  ¹² For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile —the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, ¹³ for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
