Dear God, open a door for my message, so that I may proclaim the mystery of Christ. I pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. Colossians 4:3-4

The poor are often the most generous ....

Luke 21: 1 - 4
1He looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury;
2and he saw a poor widow put in two copper coins.
3And he said, "Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all of them;
4for they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all the living that she had."

Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us now and at the hour of our death

O my Mother, by the love which Thou bearest to God, I beseech Thee to help me at all times. Leave me not, until thou seest me safe in heaven, blessing Thee and singing Thy mercies for all eternity. AMEN.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.
“Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us now and at the hour of our death.”
Continue to pray the Rosary every day.

O Infant JESUS, through the intercession of Mary, Your Most Holy mother and St. Joseph, Your loving foster father, I knock, I seek, I ask that my prayer be granted.

O Infant Jesus, I come to You, seeking You to save me. I am in great need for your miraculous help in pressing financial situation that I am going through currently. I do not seek a large sum of money or trouble you for unneeded comforts or luxuries. All I am requesting is for enough money to relief my financial debt woes, ease this stress and some extra to get my day to day life back on track. The stress caused by my worries has started to interfere and mess with all my other parts of my life. Full of trust, I truly believe and with hope to obtain Your holy grace. I love You, Jesus, I am painfully sorry for my sins and I beg You, and to set me free from them. I promise to change, improve myself and to never offend You. I offer myself to You, give me the means to do Your work, and spread Your Love. I have only so much to give, if only I were allowed the chance. Infant Jesus show me Your goodness, and deliver me from my difficulties. Infant Jesus, Mighty and Sweet Child, I offer You all Glory, Praise and Thanksgiving belongs to You. Divine Child Jesus, Infant Jesus, heal me by Your will, extend Your holy hand and by Your power take away all my worries and bestow Your peace upon me today that I may have eternal joy with You, Mary, Your Most Holy mother and St. Joseph, Your loving foster father. O Infant Jesus, You who have said, ask and you shall receive, seek and you will find, ask and it shall be opened to you. Through the intercession of Mary, Your Most Holy mother and St. Joseph, Your loving foster father, I knock, I seek, I ask that my prayer be granted. AMEN.

Everyone is gifted, but some people never open their package ....

We all have a talent, a purpose, a gift that needs discovering, no one person in this universe has been robbed of this, really put some thought into it, your life, your dreams, what is your hearts true calling, what makes your spirit sing and dance, what creates a smile so strongly that it hurts your face, where do you go when you dream at night, its all there waiting to be discovered in the depth of our souls; some of us just need to be reminded on how to get there. Follow your dreams; they know the way. ~Will Rivera

Jesus will Come Again

Keep Standing
Keep Hoping
Keep Believing
I am Coming
~ JESUS ~

Matthew 24:3-29
3 As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. “Tell us,” they said, “when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?”

4 Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many. 6 You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of birth pains.

9 “Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. 10 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13 but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

15 “So when you see standing in the holy place ‘the abomination that causes desolation,’ spoken of through the prophet Daniel—let the reader understand— 16 then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17 Let no one on the housetop go down to take anything out of the house. 18 Let no one in the field go back to get their cloak. 19 How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! 20 Pray that your flight will not take place in winter or on the Sabbath. 21 For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now—and never to be equaled again.

22 “If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened. 23 At that time if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah!’ or, ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. 24 For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. 25 See, I have told you ahead of time.

26 “So if anyone tells you, ‘There he is, out in the wilderness,’ do not go out; or, ‘Here he is, in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. 27 For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. 28 Wherever there is a carcass, there the vultures will gather.

29 “Immediately after the distress of those days
“‘the sun will be darkened,
and the moon will not give its light;
the stars will fall from the sky,
and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’

Catholic Liturgical Calendar

The Catholic Church has it’s own liturgical calendar where the liturgical period and day dates for solemnity, memorial, feast and ordinary days are preset for each liturgical year cycle. The reading and gospel daily and Sunday mass during the liturgical year also set based on the liturgical cycle (Year A, Year B and Year C).

The new liturgical year begin on the first of Advent (normally at the end of November / early December) during the season we await for the first coming of our Lord, the birth of the Messiah, Jesus Christ. The last day of the liturgical year at the feast of Christ the King (at the end of November of the following calendar year) which marks our awaiting for the second coming of Christ the King, the Lion of Judah and King of the Universe on judgment day, the end of times.

The climax of every liturgical year is the Paschal mystery of the Lord (Easter Triduum - Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday) which commemorates the Passion of Christ (Last Super through the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ). The liturgical year is divided to 3 main liturgical times, Holy days of Obligation, Ordinary days, and Feast/Memorial of Holy Saints and Martyrs.

Wednesday 27 November 2013

Liturgical Cycle, Year A, Year B and Year C

Why is the year 2013 in liturgical cycle year C? The church has 3 liturgical cycle, Year A, Year B and Year C The cycle also identifies the Gospel used. In Year A, it is the gospel of Matthew (2005, 2008, 2011, 2014, etc); Year B, it is the gospel of Mark (2006, 2009, 2012, etc); and Year B, it is the gospel of Luke (2007, 2010, 2013, etc). The gospel of John is included in all 3 years (A, B, and C) depending on the solemnity, memorial and faith. The liturgical cycle year is related to the number 3. To know whether the year is A, B, or C, we can divide the calendar year with 3. If the remainder is 1, then it is Year A, if the remainder is 2, then it is Year B, and if there is 0, then it is Year C. For example, year 2013 divide by 3 = 671 with no remainder, therefore year 2013 is Year C.

Year A, B, and C determines the reading and gospel, during masses on Sunday (Sunday missal). Daily masses (weekdays other than Sunday, daily missal) reading and gospel is based on even and odd year (Year I/Year II). Therefore year 2013 is Year I.

Therefore, when we have completed the 3 cycles in 3 years and the daily readings Year I/Year II then we have almost covered nearly the whole scripture in the bible within 2 -3 years.

Prayer to Our Lady of Guadalupe

O Immaculate Virgin Mother of the true God and Mother of the Church! You, who from this place revealed your clemency and your pity to all those who ask for your protection; hear the prayer that we address to you with filial trust, and present it to your Son Jesus, our sole Redeemer. Mother of mercy, Teacher of hidden and silent sacrifice, to you, who come to meet us sinners, we dedicate on this day all our being and all our love. We also dedicate to you our life, our work, our joys, our infirmities, and our sorrows. Grant peace, justice and prosperity to our peoples; for we entrust to your care all that we have and all that we are, our Lady and Mother. We wish to be entirely yours and to walk with you along the way of complete faithfulness to Jesus Christ in His Church: hold us always with your loving hand. Virgin of Guadalupe, Mother of the Americas, we pray to you for all the bishops, that they may lead the faithful along paths of intense Christian life, of love and humble service of God and souls. Contemplate this immense harvest, and intercede with the Lord that He may instill a hunger for holiness in the whole People of God, and grant abundant vocations of priests and religious, strong in faith and zealous dispensers of God's mysteries. Grant to our homes the grace of loving and respecting life in its beginnings, with the same love with which you conceived in your womb the life of the Son of God. Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Fair Love, protect our families, so that they may always be united, and bless the upbringing of our children. Our hope, look upon us with compassion, teach us to go continually to Jesus and, if we fall, help us to rise again, to return to Him, by means of the confession of our faults and sins in the Sacrament of Penance, which gives peace to the soul. We beg you to grant us a great love for all the holy Sacraments, which are, as it were, the signs that your Son left us on earth. Thus, Most Holy Mother, with the peace of God in our conscience, with our hearts free from evil and hatred, we will be able to bring to all true joy and true peace, which come to us from your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, who with God the Father and the Holy Spirit, lives and reigns for ever and ever. Amen.

Psalms 138: 1 - 5

1I give thee thanks, O LORD, with my whole heart; before the gods I sing thy praise;
2I bow down toward thy holy temple and give thanks to thy name for thy steadfast love and thy faithfulness; for thou hast exalted above everything thy name and thy word.
3On the day I called, thou didst answer me, my strength of soul thou didst increase.
4All the kings of the earth shall praise thee, O LORD, for they have heard the words of thy mouth;
5and they shall sing of the ways of the LORD, for great is the glory of the LORD.
Prayer
O God, when I have food,
help me to remember the hungry;
When I have work,
help me to remember the jobless;
When I have a home,
help me to remember those who have no home at all;
When I am without pain,
help me to remember those who suffer,
And remembering,
help me to destroy my complacency;
bestir my compassion,
and be concerned enough to help;
By word and deed,
those who cry out for what we take for granted.
Amen.

ABRAHAM LINCOLN’S THANKSGIVING PROCLAMATION – 1863
The 16th President of the United States of America

It is the duty of nations as well as of men to own their dependence upon the over ruling power of God; to confess their sins and transgressions in humble sorrow, yet with a sure hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon; and to recognize the sublime truth, announced in the holy scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations are blessed whose God is the Lord.

We know that by His divine law, nations, like individuals, are subjected to punishments and chastisements in this world. May we not justly fear that the awful calamity of civil war which now desolates the land may be a punishment inflicted upon us for our presumptuous sins, to the needful end of our national reformation as a whole people.

We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of heaven, we have been preserved these many years in peace and prosperity; we have grown in numbers, wealth and power as no other nation has ever grown.

But we have forgotten God. We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us, and we have vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own. Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the God that made us.

It has seemed to me fit and proper that God should be solemnly, reverently, and gratefully acknowledged, as with one heart and one voice, by the whole American people. I do therefore invite my fellow citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November as a day of Thanksgiving and praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the heavens.

Maranatha! Come, Lord JESUS, Come

Maranatha is an Aramaic word meaning

Universal Children Day ~ 20 November

This day was established by the United Nations (UN) in 1954 to encourage understanding between children and promote children's welfare around the world. It is held on 20 November annually and UNICEF, the United Nations Children's Fund, promotes and coordinates this special day, which also works towards improving children's welfare. On the same day in 1959 the UN General Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child and in 1989 signed the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Loving God
You have called us to work for true justice in our communities
and to be messengers of freedom
for all who are not treated as your children.
Give us grace to put our faith into action
to end the violence and cruelty that overshadows many children’s lives.
Jesus taught us to welcome children and learn from them.
May we use our imagination to put ourselves in children’s shoes
and learn to teach and guide them with wisdom,
gentleness and understanding.
Let us treat each child as we would treat the Christ child.
Amen

Feast of St. Andrew, Apostle ~ 2013

Andrew, son of Zebedee and the brother of Simon Peter, was one of the first called by Jesus to follow him as his disciple. St. Andrew was known for starting the Eastern Catholic Churches. Andrew is patron of Russia.
Andrew in tradition is believed to have died by crucifixion at Patras, Achaia in southern Greece where he was bound, not nailed, to an X-shaped cross, which came to be known as the Cross of St Andrew. It was done at his own request as he felt not worthy to be crucified on a cross like Jesus.

Novena to St. Andrew
Hail and blessed be the hour and moment in which the Son of God was born of the most pure Virgin Mary, at midnight, in Bethlehem, in piercing cold. In that hour, vouchsafe, O my God! to hear my prayer and grant my desires, through the merits of Our Saviour Jesus Christ, and of His Blessed Mother. Amen.

(It is piously believed that whoever recites the above prayer fifteen times a day from the feast of St. Andrew (30 November) until Christmas will obtain what is asked.)

Reading
Romans 10: 9 - 18
9because, if you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
10For man believes with his heart and so is justified, and he confesses with his lips and so is saved.
11The scripture says, "No one who believes in him will be put to shame."
12For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; the same Lord is Lord of all and bestows his riches upon all who call upon him.
13For, "every one who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved."
14But how are men to call upon him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without a preacher?
15And how can men preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach good news!"
16But they have not all obeyed the gospel; for Isaiah says, "Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?"
17So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes by the preaching of Christ.
18But I ask, have they not heard? Indeed they have; for "Their voice has gone out to all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world."

Psalm
Psalms 19: 8 - 11
8the precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes;
9the fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever; the ordinances of the LORD are true, and righteous altogether.
10More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb.
11Moreover by them is thy servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward.

Gospel
Matthew 4: 18 - 22
18As he walked by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.
19And he said to them, "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men."
20Immediately they left their nets and followed him.
21And going on from there he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zeb'edee and John his brother, in the boat with Zeb'edee their father, mending their nets, and he called them.
22Immediately they left the boat and their father, and followed him.

Reading
Daniel 2: 31 - 45
31"In your vision, O king, you saw a statue, very large and exceedingly bright, terrifying in appearance as it stood before you.
32The head of the statue was pure gold, its chest and arms were silver, its belly and thighs bronze,
33the legs iron, its feet partly iron and partly tile.
34While you looked at the statue, a stone which was hewn from a mountain without a hand being put to it, struck its iron and tile feet, breaking them in pieces.
35The iron, tile, bronze, silver, and gold all crumbled at once, fine as the chaff on the threshing floor in summer, and the wind blew them away without leaving a trace. But the stone that struck the statue became a great mountain and filled the whole earth.
36"This was the dream; the interpretation we shall also give in the king's presence.
37You, O king, are the king of kings; to you the God of heaven has given dominion and strength, power and glory;
38men, wild beasts, and birds of the air, wherever they may dwell, he has handed over to you, making you ruler over them all; you are the head of gold.
39Another kingdom shall take your place, inferior to yours, then a third kingdom, of bronze, which shall rule over the whole earth.
40There shall be a fourth kingdom, strong as iron; it shall break in pieces and subdue all these others, just as iron breaks in pieces and crushes everything else.
41The feet and toes you saw, partly of potter's tile and partly of iron, mean that it shall be a divided kingdom, but yet have some of the hardness of iron. As you saw the iron mixed with clay tile,
42and the toes partly iron and partly tile, the kingdom shall be partly strong and partly fragile.
43The iron mixed with clay tile means that they shall seal their alliances by intermarriage, but they shall not stay united, any more than iron mixes with clay.
44In the lifetime of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that shall never be destroyed or delivered up to another people; rather, it shall break in pieces all these kingdoms and put an end to them, and it shall stand forever.
45That is the meaning of the stone you saw hewn from the mountain without a hand being put to it, which broke in pieces the tile, iron, bronze, silver, and gold. The great God has revealed to the king what shall be in the future; this is exactly what you dreamed, and its meaning is sure."

Psalm
Daniel 3: 57 - 61
57Bless the Lord, all you works of the Lord, praise and exalt him above all forever.
58Angels of the Lord, bless the Lord, praise and exalt him above all forever.
59You heavens, bless the Lord, praise and exalt him above all forever.
60All you waters above the heavens, bless the Lord, praise and exalt him above all forever.
61All you hosts of the Lord, bless the Lord; praise and exalt him above all forever.

Gospel
Luke 21: 5 - 11
5And as some spoke of the temple, how it was adorned with noble stones and offerings, he said,
6"As for these things which you see, the days will come when there shall not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down."
7And they asked him, "Teacher, when will this be, and what will be the sign when this is about to take place?"
8And he said, "Take heed that you are not led astray; for many will come in my name, saying, `I am he!' and, `The time is at hand!' Do not go after them.
