Novena Prayer to Our Lady of Vailankanni
O Most Holy Virgin!
You were chosen
by the most adorable Trinity
from all eternity
to be the most pure Mother of Jesus.
O Tender Mother of the afflicted,
grant me under my present necessities
a special protection.
Relying upon the infinite mercies
of your Divine Son,
and penetrated with confidence
in your powerful prayers,
I humbly entreat you to intercede for me.
I beg you to obtain for me
the favors which I petition.

Lady of Vailankanni Shrine Basilica also fondly known as the 'Lourdes of the East'
Feast celebaration annually starts August 29th and ends on September 8th
December 26, 2004
A miracle took place when the terrifying ‘TSUNAMI' caused destruction at area on the coast of southern Asia and India. The town of Vailankanni was also hit by this massive destruction. About 2,000 pilgrims where in middle of a Mass taking place in the shrine. Although, waves of the tsunami left the entire town in shambles and killing thousands, the deadly waters did not enter into the shrine, everyone present was spared. Reports in media confirmed the shrine was the only building to have escape the devastation. Most extraordinary aspect is that buildings on the same elevation, further inshore were destroyed, but the shrine and pilgrims inside were spared. Basilica officials did not hesitate to call the event miraculous.
Our Lady of Vailankanni has perform another Miracle through the ever loving and merciful Infant Jesus in he arms.
