Annually, November 2 is dedicated to the remembrance of those loved ones, friends and those brothrens in Christ who have passed on. Prayers are offered for the souls of the faithful for they may at the time of death have not been cleanse of their venial sins, or have not been atoned for past transgressions and yet to be granted the vision of God in Heaven (Beatific vision). We pray in obtaining assistance for the souls from Purgatory to the path to Heaven, where they will have everlasting peace. We also pray for souls forgotten souls, and losts souls that may lingering around in our daily lives.
The Church encourages the faithful to hear mass on this day and to pray the Lord’s Prayer, the Hail Mary, and the Glory Be repeatedly six times for the intentions of the Pope in order to receive a plenary indulgence in purgatory.
Christians celebrate and observe the day by praying for the souls and gather around the resting places of their loved ones, relatives and friends at memorial parks, cemetaries, or columbaries lighting candles, burn incense and offer flowers.

The practical impact of this is that “only those who can recognize a great hope in death, can also live a life based on hope.”

42 Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.”
