God will provide, trust in God

 God will provide for you and I what we need to celebrate Christmas. We shall not be put to shame. God will send our own Three Wise Men to us and they shall not come empty handed but to bless us with good gifts. Amen.

Psalm 130 ~ Penitential psalm

A call for help, a cry for forgiveness, and it is all about waiting for the Lord in hope.

1 Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord.

2 Lord, hear my voice!

Let your ears be attentive

to the voice of my supplications!

3 If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities,

Lord, who could stand?

so that you may be revered.

Testimony of God’s rescue from the depths of guilt and awareness of sin, and ascends step by step up to giving confidence to others in their trust in God.

You will never be lost

Talk with God,

Wait for God,

no time is lost.

Trust in God,

you will never be lost.

My sheep hear my voice

How secure is your faith and trust in God? Scripture describes God’s word as a "lamp for our feet and a light for our steps" (Psalm 119:105). The Jewish Feast of the Dedication is also called the Festival of Lights or Hanakkuh. This feast was held in late December, near the time when Christians celebrate the feast of Christmas. This is the time of year when the day is shortest and the night longest. Jesus used this occasion to declare that he is the true light of the world (John 8:12). In his light we can see who God truly is and we can find the true path to heaven.

Jesus speaks of the tremendous trust he has in God his Father and the tremendous trust we ought to have in him because he is our good shepherd (John 10:11). Sheep without a shepherd are defenseless against prey, such as wolves, and often get lost and bewildered without a guide. That is why shepherds literally live with their sheep out in the open field and mountain sides. The shepherd guards his sheep from the dangers of storms, floods, and beasts of prey. The shepherd leads his sheep to the best places for feeding and the best streams for drinking. He finds the best place for their rest and safety at night. The sheep recognize the voice of their shepherd and heed his call when he leads them to safe pasture and rest.

We are very much like sheep who stray, we become easy prey to forces which can destroy us - sin, Satan, and a world in opposition to God and his people. The Lord Jesus came not only to free us from Satan's snares and the grip of sin, he came to personally lead us to the best of places where we can feed on his "word of life" and drink from the "living waters" of his Holy Spirit. The sheep who heed the voice of Jesus, the good shepherd, have no fear. He leads them to the best of places - everlasting peace, joy, and fellowship with God and his people.

In this present life we will encounter trials, difficulties, and persecution. We can face them alone or we can follow Jesus, the true shepherd, who will bring us safely through every difficulty to the place of peace and security with God. Do you listen to the voice of the Good Shepherd and heed his commands?

How secure is your faith and trust in God?

Jesus speaks of the tremendous trust he has in God his Father and the tremendous trust we ought to have in him because he is our good shepherd (John 10:11). What is the significance of Jesus calling himself the Good Shepherd? Shepherds were very common in the land of Jesus' time. A shepherd could have hundreds or thousands of sheep under his care. Sheep without a shepherd were vulnerable prey for predators, such as wolves and thieves. If a sheep strayed from the fold it could easily get lost, fall into a ravine, or become injured. Shepherds had to keep a constant watch over their folds by day and by night. That is why shepherds had to literally live with their sheep so they could lead them out to good pasture for grazing during the day and bring them to a safe place at night for rest and shelter. Shepherds got to know their sheep well and kept a careful count each evening. They also called their sheep by name so the sheep could recognize the shepherd's voice when he called them to follow him. 

The Good Shepherd and Guardian of our souls

God used the image of a shepherd to describe his covenant relationship and care for his chosen people who were called by his name (Psalm 80:1 and 100:3). God called David, who shepherded his father's flock in his youth, to be the anointed king and shepherd for his people Israel (Ezekiel 37:24). Jesus, God's anointed Messiah and King, born from the tribe of David, called himself the Good Shepherd of the people whom his Father had entrusted to his care (John 10:29).

Peter the Apostle tells us that the Lord Jesus is the Good Shepherd and Guardian of our souls (1 Peter 2:25). He keeps a close and personal watch over every one of his sheep - his followers (disciples) who belong to him. He calls each of us personally by name to follow him. And he promises to be our guardian and protector from the snares of our enemy, Satan, the father of lies and a murderer from the beginning (John 8:44). The Lord leads us each day to good pastures - places where we can feed on his word and drink from the well-springs of living water which is his Holy Spirit (John 7:38-39, John 4:14). If we feed on his word and drink from the living water of the Holy Spirit, we will find the nourishment and strength we need to live each day for his glory and honor. Do you recognize the voice of your Shepherd and Guardian who calls to you each day? 

"My sheep follow me"

Cyril of Alexandria (376-444 AD), an early church father and theologian, contrasts those who listen for the voice of the Good Shepherd, and those who close their ears to his call.

The mark of Christ's sheep is their willingness to hear and obey, just as disobedience is the mark of those who are not his. We take the word hear to imply obedience to what has been said. People who hear God are known by him. No one is entirely unknown by God, but to be known in this way is to become part of his family. Therefore, when Christ says, 'I know mine,' he means I will receive them and give them a permanent mystical relationship with myself. It might be said that inasmuch as he has become man, he has made all human beings his relatives, since all are members of the same race. We are all united to Christ in a mystical relationship because of his incarnation. Yet those who do not preserve the likeness of his holiness are alienated from him... 'My sheep follow me,' says Christ. By a certain God-given grace, believers follow in the footsteps of Christ. No longer subject to the shadows of the law, they obey the commands of Christ and guided by his words rise through grace to his own dignity, for they are called 'children of God' (Matthew 5:9). When Christ ascends into heaven, they also follow him." (excerpt from the Commentary on the Gospel of John 7.1)

The Lord opens our ears to hear his word

The Lord speaks to us in a variety of ways, but especially through his word in the Sacred Scriptures. He will open the Scriptures for us if we approach his word with reverence and faith (John 24:32). How can we grow in listening to the voice of our Lord and Shepherd? If we ask he will open our ears to hear him speak to our hearts and minds. 

"Morning by morning he wakens, he wakens my ear to hear as those who are taught. The Lord GOD has opened my ear, and I was not rebellious, I turned not backward" (Isaiah 50:4-5).

And if we hunger for his word, he will give us understanding, wisdom, and guidance for our lives. 

"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path... I rejoice at your word like one who finds great treasure" (Psalm 119:105, 162). 

The Lord Jesus wants to draw each of us close to himself. He wants us to be united with him and the Father. That is why he teaches us to pray to our Father in heaven and to ask for his kingdom to reign in our lives (Matthew 6:9-10). The Lord Jesus knocks on the door of our hearts and homes (Revelation 2:20) and waits for our response. Will you answer his call and welcome his presence with you?

Fear, love and trust in God by living the Ten Commandments

In following the Ten Commandments we show that we fear, love and trust in God.

Exodus 24:12
The Lord said to Moses, “Come up to Me on the mountain and be there; and I will give you tablets of stone, and the law and commandments which I have written, that you may teach them.”

John 14:15
If you love Me, keep My commandments.

John 15:14
You are my friends if you do what I command you.

Mark 3:35
Whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother.

The Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:2-17)

1. I am the LORD your God: you shall not have strange Gods before me.
Love God more than anyone or anything else; for anything we love more than God becomes our God instead of Him.

2. You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.
Do not curse, swear, lie, or deceive by His name, but call upon His name at times of trouble, worship, praise, and give thanks.

3. Remember to keep holy the LORD'S Day.
God rested on the seventh day after His six days of work when He created the heavens and the earth, therefore God instructed His people not to work and rest on the Sabbath day.

4. Honour your father and your mother.
Do not despise or anger our parents, elders and with higher authority, but honour, serve, obey, love and cherish them.

5. You shall not kill.
No to take someone's life, not only by murdering but also when we anger someone and wish that the person will die.

6. You shall not commit adultery.
Avoid all sexual sins and sexual acts outside of marriage.

7. You shall not steal.
Unjustly taking, using or damaging worldly things belonging to someone else.

8. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbour.
Never say anything about another person that isn't true, or gossip about others.

9. You shall not covet your neighbour's wife.
Do not envy (desire) the living forms (of flesh and blood) that belongs to another.

10. You shall not covet your neighbour's goods.
Do not envy (desire) the worldly things (goods) that belongs to another.

Revelation 21:8

But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”

Matthew 19:16-17

Then someone came to him and said, “Teacher, what good deed must I do to have eternal life?” And he said to him, “Why do you ask me about what is good? There is only one who is good. If you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments.”

Romans 13:9

For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not bear false witness,” “You shall not covet,” and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

Therefore faithfully keep the Commandments, let us often reflect on them, on the duties they impose upon us, and examine our conscience as to how we observe them, in what points we transgress them, and how we may avoid further transgressions. Let us imitate David, who loved the Commandments, because he loved God; who constantly meditated upon them, in order to be guided and ruled by them. He exclaims: "O how have I loved thy law, O Lord!

Storms in our lives, never give up, put all hope and trust in God. Seek Him and Call upon Him

Trials and difficulty are the storms in our life and will happen in our lives from the day we are born and breathed our first breath, as in the Job 14:1-2, "Mortals, born of woman, are of few days and full of trouble. They spring up like flowers and wither away, like fleeting shadows, they do not endure."

There are 3 stages in the storm of life.

1. Those are heading into the storm, trying to avoid it but are sucked into it.

2. Those in midst of the storm, fighting our lives to overcome and get out of it.

3. Those survive out of the storm, thanking God, smiling and victorious over the storm.

When we realise that we are heading towards a storm that is beyond our avoidance, we should call upon the Lord as we love Him and trust in His will as He is our creator, "I will rescue him, I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him, I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honour him." (Psalm 91:14-15).

When we experience our storms of life. In these times we seek God and cry out to Him for His mercy, "Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me, for in you my soul takes refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed" (Psalm 57:1) and again when they cried, He save them, "they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distress." (Psalm 107:28).

Trust, and get on my knees, and cry out to the Lord as David did, God is always faithful and steadfast in our storms, "He sends from heaven and saves me, rebuking those who hotly pursue me, God sends forth his love and his faithfulness." (Psalm 53:3). God works all His wonders through Jesus His Son, find Jesus above your storms, seek Him and ask Him to pray for you to the His Father God. God is in the storm with us. You’re in the storm with His presence and you’re in the storm for his purpose, therefore He will bring you out of the storm.

God has promise that He will be with us and to deliver us in our storms, "For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear, I will help you." (Isaiah 41:13). Again God promises, "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, the flames will not set you ablaze." (Isaiah 43:2). God has a blessing for you even in the midst of your storms!

On overcoming and surviving our storms, we must thank, praise and glory the Lord for all He has done, as it is by His will we are saved, "I will praise you, Lord, among the nations, I will sing of you among the peoples. For great is your love, reaching to the heavens, your faithfulness reaches to the skies." (Psalm 57:9-10)

Worry not! Trust in God

Call on God, Depend on God and Trust in God for He will surely Help In Desperate Times

When everything seems to be falling in around us, when the walls seem to be closing in on us, when nothing in our world or in this world seems to hold any hope, when everything looks completely hopeless, just remember to call, depend and trust the Lord our God, who is good all the time. God truly loves those that are His. He loves you!

CALL on the Lord

and call on me in the day of trouble;

I will deliver you, and you will honour me.

~ Psalm 50:15 ~

‘Because he loves me,’ says the Lord, ‘I will rescue him;

I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.

He will call on me, and I will answer him;

I will be with him in trouble,

I will deliver him and honour him.

With long life I will satisfy him

and show him my salvation.’

Before they call I will answer;

while they are still speaking I will hear.

TRUST in the Lord

For I am the Lord your God

who takes hold of your right hand

and says to you, Do not fear;

I will help you.

This is what the Lord says:

‘Cursed is the one who trusts in man,

who draws strength from mere flesh

and whose heart turns away from the Lord.

That person will be like a bush in the wastelands;

they will not see prosperity when it comes.

They will dwell in the parched places of the desert,

in a salt land where no one lives.

‘But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord,

whose confidence is in him.

You are my hiding-place;

you will protect me from trouble

and surround me with songs of deliverance.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart

and lean not on your own understanding;

in all your ways submit to him,

For no matter how many promises 

God has made, 

they are ‘Yes’ in Christ. 

And so through him the ‘Amen’ 

is spoken by us to the glory of God.

Therefore he is able to save completely

those who come to God through him, 

because he always lives to intercede for them.

In Urgent and in Special need, say this prayer with faith and trust in God....Your intentions and needs will be granted

Never fails....trust and have faith that God will provide. God is Full of Love and Mercy which is infinite and unmeasurable. He will truly heal us of our adversities and grant us His graces.
