Jesus Healed Many Who Were Sick

 

Gospel  Mark 1:29-39

And immediately he left the synagogue, and entered the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. Now Simon's mother-in-law lay sick with a fever, and immediately they told him of her. And he came and took her by the hand and lifted her up, and the fever left her; and she served them. That evening, at sundown, they brought to him all who were sick or possessed with demons. And the whole city was gathered together about the door. And he healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons; and he would not permit the demons to speak, because they knew him. And in the morning, a great while before day, he rose and went out to a lonely place, and there he prayed. And Simon and those who were with him pursued him, and they found him and said to him, "Every one is searching for you." And he said to them, "Let us go on to the next towns, that I may preach there also; for that is why I came out." And he went throughout all Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and casting out demons. Meditation  Who do you take your troubles to? Jesus' disciples freely brought their troubles to him because they found him ready and able to deal with any difficulty, affliction, or sickness which they encountered. When Simon brought Jesus to his home, his mother-in-law was instantly healed because Jesus heard Simon's prayer. Jerome, an early church bible scholar and translator (c. 347-420), reflects on this passage: "Can you imagine Jesus standing before your bed and you continue sleeping? It is absurd that you would remain in bed in his presence. Where is Jesus? He is already here offering himself to us. 'In the middle,' he says, 'among you he stands, whom you do not recognize' (Cf. John 1:26) 'The kingdom of God is in your midst' (Mark 1:15). Faith beholds Jesus among us. If we are unable to seize his hand, let us prostrate ourselves at his feet. If we are unable to reach his head, let us wash his feet with our tears. Our repentance is the perfume of the Savior. See how costly is the compassion of the Savior." Do you allow Jesus to be the Lord and healer in your personal life, family, and community? Approach the Lord with expectant faith. God's healing power restores us not only to health but to active service and care of others. There is no trouble he does not want to help us with and there is no bondage he can't set us free from. Prayer for the Sick

Father of goodness and love, 

hear our prayers for the sick members of our community 

and for all who are in need. 

Amid mental and physical suffering 

may they find consolation in your healing presence.

Show your mercy as you close wounds, 

cure illness, make broken bodies whole 

and free downcast spirits. 

May these special people 

find lasting health and deliverance, 

and so join us in thanking you for all your gifts.

We ask this through the Lord Jesus 

who healed those who believed.

Amen.

Jesus healed many who were sick

Who do you take your troubles to? Jesus' disciples freely brought their troubles to him because they found him ready and able to deal with any difficulty, affliction, or sickness which they encountered. When Simon brought Jesus to his home, his mother-in-law was instantly healed because Jesus heard Simon's prayer. Do you allow Jesus to be the Lord and healer in your personal life, family, and community? Approach the Lord with expectant faith. Lord Jesus Christ, you have all power to heal and to deliver from harm. There is no trouble nor bondage you cannot overcome. Set me free to serve you joyfully and to love and serve others generously. May nothing hinder me from giving myself wholly to you and to your service.

Prayer for the Sick

GOD LOVES you and will HEAL you,
if you have FAITH and TRUST in Him
with all your HEART. 

Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.
Matthew 4:23

Almighty and Everlasting God,

the eternal salvation of those who believe in You,

hear us on behalf of Your servant [name] who is sick,

for whom we humbly beg the help of your mercy,

so that, being restored to health,

he/she may render thanks to you in your Church.

Through Christ our Lord.

AMEN.

The Lord has said,

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Matthew 11:28-30

O God of heavenly powers,
by the might of your command
you drive away from our bodies
all sickness and all infirmity.
Be present in your goodness
with your servant [name],
that his/her weakness
may be banished
and his/her strength restored,
and that, his/her health being renewed,
he/she may bless your holy Name
through Jesus Christ our Lord. 
AMEN.

Father, You created [name].

You formed him/her.

You knit his/her inward parts in the womb.

You alone know how to make

what is right in [name]'s body.

You alone know how to heal [name].

As his/her Creator, I pray that You

would grant healing to [name].

Let Your power envelop him/her

and bring the healing that is needed

through Jesus Christ your beloved Son

and the Holy Spirit.

Isaiah 58:8 

Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.

Jeremiah 17:14 

Heal me, LORD, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise.
