Dear God, open a door for my message, so that I may proclaim the mystery of Christ. I pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. Colossians 4:3-4

Lenten Campaign 2013, FAITH = LOVE + ACTION (Diocese of Penang)

"As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead." as written in the Letter of St.James (2:26), therefore the Penang Diocesan has adapted the theme of "FAITH = LOVE + ACTION" for the Lenten Campaign 2013.

Let us love God, let us love people around us ("love one another as I love you. Greater love has no one, as to lay down one’s life for one’s friends." John 15:12-13)  especially the needy and give generously prove that we have Faith and are the disciples of Christ Jesus.

Parishes within the Diocese of Penang will mobilize it's parishioners to form the ‘Love Squad’ at their respective parish level, consisting of youth and Parish Human Development Committee members in support to the Lenten campaign. The Love Squad will be responsible for organizing and promoting the Lenten campaign throughout the Lent 2013 season.

Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.

Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart.

No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.

Year of Faith leaflet (Diocese of Penang)

Year of Faith (11 Oct, 2012 till 24 Nov, 2012)
Discipleship Through Deepening and Sharing Our FAITH
PROFESS + CELEBRATE + LIVE + PRAY

"…They called the church together and reported what God had done with them and how he had opened the door of faith..."
(Acts 14:27)

The leaflet Year of Faith leaflet has been distributed to all parishes in the Diocese of Penang, which is then to distributed to their respective parishioners.

Bishop Sebastian Francis invites all Catholics of the Diocese of Penang to this time of grace, the Year of Faith.

Keep before you the One Image, the DOOR of FAITH.
Heed the One Invitation to OPEN and ENTER the Door of Faith.
Remember your One Identity, YOUR DISCIPLESHIP.

Pray this ONE Prayer:
Lord, Increase my Faith.
Matthew 17:14-23
Jesus Heals a Demon-Possessed Boy
14 When they came to the crowd, a man approached Jesus and knelt before him. 15 “Lord, have mercy on my son,” he said. “He has seizures and is suffering greatly. He often falls into the fire or into the water. 16 I brought him to your disciples, but they could not heal him.”

17 “You unbelieving and perverse generation,” Jesus replied, “how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy here to me.” 18 Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of the boy, and he was healed at that moment.

19 Then the disciples came to Jesus in private and asked, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?”

20 He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” [21]

Jesus Predicts His Death a Second Time

22 When they came together in Galilee, he said to them, “The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men. 23 They will kill him, and on the third day he will be raised to life.” And the disciples were filled with grief.

PDYD2 pit stop at Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, B'worth

On November 18, 2012 about 800 participants of the Penang Diocese Youth Day 2 made a pilgrimage pit stop at the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. They made their journey from the Church of the Assumption, Penang island by walking, taking the ferry across to Butterworth and the walking again from the jetty to the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Jalan Chain Ferry, Butterworth. They arrived at NBVM at about 3.45pm. We should give them a BIG hand for their perseverance in this Walk of Faith. The youths consist of English speaking, Malay speaking, Mandarin speaking and Tamil speaking from  the Diocese of Penang.

They were greeted and welcome by the Parish Priest Father Victor Louis, Parish Pastoral Council Chairperson Ms. Mavis Baptist, church youths and several church members present in support. They were then shown a presentation on the autobiography of St. Jacques Honore Chastan, PDYD2 patron saint. After that they were treated to some refreshment.

They then boarded 11 buses that were waiting and ready to transport them to the destination, Church of St. Anne in trips. They will be at St. Anne until November 19, 2012 afternoon, when the PDYD2 comes to end. The whole event at NBVM was a success and went well.  Also a pat on the back and another BIG hand to all involved in making the event above a success.

PDYD2 aims to transform youths to be agents of change in this society.
