The Holy Trinity is also known as Triune God, "Tri" meaning Three and "Une" meaning One. The three Persons in the Holy Trinity are One God but are distinct: for the Father has no origin, He came from no one. And the Son is begotten, He comes from the Father alone. The Holy Spirit proceeds from both the Father and the Son. Therefore, these different relations of origin clearly indicates to us that there are three distinct Persons, who are in one and the same in divine nature. The Father especially as the power of creation, of the Son as the wisdom of the Father, of the Holy Spirit as goodness and sanctification.
When we profess the Creed, we say I Believe ...
In God, the Father Almighty
In Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord
In the Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of life
In the Holy Catholic Church
and by these words we proclaim our belief in the Triune God, the Holy Trinity which lives in us through our baptism.
Deuteronomy 6:4
Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.
Jesus Himself affirmed the the word of god from the old testament above in the New Testament as follows,
Mark 12:29
“The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.
John 1:1,14
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
John 10:25,30
Jesus answered, “I did tell you, but you do not believe. The works I do in my Father’s name testify about me,
I and the Father are one.
Christian faith affirms that there is one and only one true God eternally existing while fully and simultaneously expressed in three persons the Father, the Son, and the Spirit.
Each member of the Godhead is equally God and each is eternally God and each is fully God, not three gods but three persons of the one God head.
Each person is equal in essence as each possesses fully the identically same and eternal divine nature yet each is also an eternal and distinct personal expression of that one undivided divine nature.
Because the Father, Son and Holy Spirit each possesses fully the identically same divine nature, therefore what distinguishes the Persons of the Godhead from each other is not and can not be the divine nature of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.
This the one undivided and divine nature is possessed equally, eternally, simultaneously and fully by each of the three Persons of the Godhead.
Therefore what distinguishes each person of the Godhead from the other persons is His particular role, in relation to the other persons and the relationships that each has with each of the other persons.
In light of both the equality of essence and differentiation in role and responsibility it be-hooves us then to look carefully at each member of the Trinity in relation to the other and this effects the relationship of each member of the Trinity to us.
Paul is an apostle of Christ “by the will of God” as he is sent to carry out the mission of Christ but he does this not because Christ has said so but because the Father has said so. Paul distinguishes the Father, Son and Holy Spirit as follows,
Ephesians 1:1-14
1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God,
To God’s holy people in Ephesus, the faithful in Christ Jesus:
2 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Praise for Spiritual Blessings in Christ
3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realmswith every spiritual blessing in Christ. 4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5 he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace 8 that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding, 9 he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, 10 to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.
11 In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, 12 in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. 13 And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.
May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
Jesus has to be one of us through God the Father's plan by choosing the virgin Mary and by the power of the Holy Spirit, in order to take our place by His death on the cross. Just by becoming only as one of us that will not accomplish the atonement. Therefore Jesus is 100% man in order to take our place, and 100% God in order to make an acceptable divine sacrifice. This prove that God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are the same one person who is God.
"We firmly believe and confess without reservation that there is only one true God, eternal infinite (immensus) and unchangeable, incomprehensible, almighty and ineffable, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit; three persons indeed, but one essence, substance or nature entirely simple."
