Dress code at Chapel, Church and at the Presence of the Blessed Sacrament

There are no official and specific Church norms or requirement for lay persons who attend Mass mentioned in Canon Law or the Sacramentary but Catholics must dress respectfully and appropriately when attending Mass or entering the house God, even the non-Catholic Christian also have similar request.

"... church has an eschatological significance [i.e., it has a connection to eternity]. To enter into the house of God, we must cross a threshold, which symbolizes passing from the world wounded by sin to the world of the new Life to which all men are called. The visible church is a symbol of the Father's house toward which the People of God is journeying and where the Father "will wipe every tear from their eyes." (CCC, #1186)

The 9th Commandment

You shall not covet your neighbour's house; you shall not covet your neighbour's wife, or his manservant, or his maidservant, or his ox, or his ass, or anything that is your neighbour's.

Every one who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church explicitly addresses the importance of modesty, as it tell us the struggle against carnal covetousness entails purifying the heart and practicing temperance (CCC, #2517). And purity requires modesty, which is an integral part of temperance (CCC, #2521). Modesty.

"Purity requires modesty, an integral part of temperance. Modesty protects the intimate center of the person. It means refusing to unveil what should remain hidden. It is ordered to chastity to whose sensitivity it bears witness. It guides how one looks at others and behaves toward them in conformity with the dignity of persons and their solidarity. "(CCC #2521)

"Modesty protects the mystery of the person. It encourages patience and moderation in loving relationships. Modesty is decency. It inspires one's choice of clothing. It keeps silence or reserve where there is evident risk of unhealthy curiosity. " (CCC #2522)

Philippians 4:5

"Let your modesty be known to all men."

1 Timothy 2:9

"I wish women to be decently dressed, adorning themselves with modesty and dignity."

Let us love God and our neighbour, even our enemies, by dressing properly and modestly, especially while in His house. Let us dress properly. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God (Matthew 5:8).
