JESUS King of Mercy
I TRUST in YOU.
Divine Mercy Sunday was instituted by Saint Pope John Paul II on 5 May, 2000. The feast of Divine Mercy always is on the Octave of Easter or Second Sunday of Easter. It is about mercy, trust and the forgiveness of sins.
Our Lord promises that
- "Whoever approaches the Fount of Life on this day will be granted complete remission of sins and punishment of sins and punishment."
- "On this day the very depths of My tender mercy are open. I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who approach the fount of My mercy. The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment. On that day are open all the divine floodgates through which graces flow."
"The two rays, according to what Jesus Himself told her, denote blood and water. The blood recalls the sacrifice of Golgotha and the mystery of the Eucharist: the water makes us think of Baptism and the Gift of the Holy Spirit."
Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.
Receive the Holy Spirit.
Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them,
and whose sins you retain are retained.
